King Salman inaugurated the Riyadh Metro project on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the capital’s public transport development. The metro network spans 176 km across six train lines with 85 stations, including four main hubs, and will begin public operations on Dec. 1, running daily from 6 a.m. to midnight.
The phased launch includes the blue, yellow, and purple lines on Dec. 1, the red and green lines on Dec. 15, and the orange line on Jan. 5, 2025.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman highlighted the project’s roots in visionary leadership and detailed studies addressing Riyadh’s future transport needs. Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb praised the metro as a step toward enhancing Riyadh’s infrastructure and aligning with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals to boost the city’s global appeal.
