FIFA Announces Saudi Arabia’s Record-Breaking Score in 2034 World Cup Bid
FIFA has revealed that Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034™ scored an unprecedented 419.8 out of 500 in its Bid Evaluation Report, marking the highest score in FIFA World Cup™ history.
The announcement comes ahead of the official host announcement, scheduled for December 11, 2024. FIFA’s October inspection reviewed proposed host cities, stadiums, and facilities, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s extensive preparations and alignment with its Vision 2030 goals.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sport, expressed gratitude for the leadership’s support, emphasizing the Kingdom’s transformation and commitment to delivering a world-class tournament. The bid, under the slogan “Growing. Together,” proposes matches across 15 stadiums in five main cities—Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and NEOM—along with 10 additional host locations.
Yasser Al-Misehal, President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, highlighted the cultural significance of football in Saudi Arabia and the bid’s aim to showcase the Kingdom’s rich heritage and hospitality. Hammad Albalawi, head of the bid unit, underscored the collaborative efforts to achieve the highest technical standards and offer unique fan experiences across diverse landscapes.
The bid aligns with Vision 2030, aiming to enhance Saudi Arabia’s global sports profile, foster economic growth, and improve quality of life. It also integrates sustainability through the Saudi Green Initiative, promising an eco-friendly and unforgettable World Cup experience.
