Saudi Founding Day Celebrations to Take Place Across 15+ Cities

RIYADH – More than 15 cities across Saudi Arabia are preparing for grand celebrations in honor of Saudi Founding Day, set to take place from February 20 to 23.

In Riyadh, the municipality has launched an extensive city-wide decoration initiative, displaying over 8,000 flags at key landmarks. The Ministry of Culture is spearheading a diverse array of cultural and historical events to commemorate the Kingdom’s founding, which dates back three centuries.

The celebrations will extend beyond Riyadh and AlUla, creating a nationwide tribute to Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage.

A major highlight is the Al-Srraya Festival in AlUla, running from February 21-23. This immersive event will take visitors on a journey through the Kingdom’s founding era, featuring interactive exhibits and engaging activities. In an eco-friendly twist, an artistic light display—drawing inspiration from fireflies and stars—will replace traditional fireworks, creating a mesmerizing visual experience.

In Riyadh, the Strong Ties event at Boulevard City (February 21-23) will emphasize unity and cultural connection through an interactive community art installation. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to a sculpture symbolizing togetherness.

The Memory of the Land event, spanning multiple cities from February 21 to 23, will highlight the history of the first Saudi state. As part of the Year of Handicrafts 2025 initiative, a dedicated Handicrafts Zone will showcase traditional crafts from different regions, providing visitors with a glimpse into the Kingdom’s artisanal heritage.

Adding to the spectacle, drone light shows will illuminate the skies of various cities on February 22, while artistic fireworks displays will take place across 15 locations.

Riyadh will further commemorate the occasion with the Foundation Day Orchestra at the King Fahd Cultural Center on February 24-25. The Saudi National Orchestra and Choir will bring the Kingdom’s history to life through an enchanting fusion of music and visual storytelling.

Organized in collaboration with multiple government entities, these celebrations highlight Saudi Arabia’s dedication to preserving its cultural legacy while strengthening its global presence. The festivities promise a dynamic and memorable tribute to the Kingdom’s past, present, and future.
