The General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a warning for heavy rainfall affecting various parts of Saudi Arabia from Sunday through Thursday. Residents are advised to avoid valleys and seasonal lakes due to potential hazards.
The Makkah region is expected to face the brunt of the weather, with forecasts indicating heavy to moderate rain, flash floods, hailstorms, and strong winds that could lead to sandstorms in Makkah City and Taif. Lighter rainfall is anticipated in neighboring governorates such as Jeddah and Al-Lith.
The Riyadh region is expected to experience moderate rain along with dusty conditions in Al-Sulayyil and Wadi Al-Dawasir. Madinah, Baha, Asir, and Jazan should prepare for moderate to heavy rain, while Hail, Najran, and the Eastern Region are likely to see lighter precipitation.
The Civil Defense has stressed the importance of adhering to safety guidelines provided through various media channels.
Hussein Al-Qahtani, the official spokesman for the National Center of Meteorology, noted that the center is ramping up its readiness in coordination with the Ministry of Education as the new school year begins on Monday. The NCM will provide continuous weather updates and work with schools to ensure they are equipped to handle any weather-related issues, aiming to support the safety of students throughout the year.
